MTN Data Plans and Activation Codes

MTN Nigeria moved all data subscriptions to the 312 shortcode. Dial *312# to open the data menu, or text the code beside any plan below to 312. The old “text to 131” codes no longer work.

Prices changed across the board after the 2025 tariff review, so ignore any list still quoting ₦1,000 for 1.5GB. The plans below reflect MTN’s price list as of August 2026 — the confirmation screen you see before paying is always the final word on allowance and validity.

How to activate an MTN data plan

  • Dial *312# and choose a bundle from the menu.
  • Text the plan's code (for example 106) to 312.
  • Use the MyMTN NG app — some bundles are app-only.
  • Buy through your bank app, Opay, PalmPay or Moniepoint.

You need enough airtime or wallet balance before subscribing. To see your data balance, dial *312# and pick the balance option.

MTN daily data plans

  • 75MB — ₦75 — text 114 to 312
  • 110MB — ₦100 — text 104 to 312
  • 230MB — ₦200 — *312# menu
  • 1GB Smart Bundle — ₦200 — MyMTN NG app only (best daily value)
  • 500MB — ₦350 — text 175 to 312
  • 1GB + call minutes — ₦500 — text 155 to 312
  • 2.5GB — ₦750 — dial *312*1*1#
  • 3.5GB — ₦1,000 — text 191 to 312

Two-day options exist as well, from 1.5GB at ₦600 (text 199 to 312) up to 7GB at ₦1,800 (text 183 to 312).

All valid 7 days:

  • 1GB + YouTube extras — ₦800 — text 142 to 312

MTN also sells “Always-On” monthly plans (18.6GB for ₦5,500, code 162; 45GB for ₦9,000, code 163) that cap how much you can use per day instead of giving one pool.

MTN internet settings

Settings normally arrive automatically when you insert the SIM. If not, text SETTINGS to 3888, or set the APN manually to web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net (username and password: web).
